Since the inception of new BJP Government in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been staunchly promoting Swachh Bahart Abhiyan. From nominating celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra, Anil Mabami, Sourav Ganguly, Kiran Bedi, etc. to considering the use of social media, BJP led NDA Government has left no stones unturned to propagate the mission. He sure knows the way to reach the youth and create a place among them. Although cleaning India is something that requires effort from both side, i.e..government and public.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had conducted ‘Swachh Survekshan-2018’ in 4203 cities and recently announced the outcome. Here are the top highlights from the same:


Indore has emerged as the cleanest city of India once again. The citizens and municipal corporation working hand in hand has led the city to this honour.


Madhya Pradesh’s capital city has been ranked second in the list of cleanest city of India twice in a row. The city of lakes is one of the greenest cities in India


Moving up from rank 11 in 2017 to 3 in 2018 is sure an honour. The authorities and people of Chandigarh has put in a lot of efforts to move up in the rankings.


The colossal city of Andhra Pradesh was awarded India’s cleanest big city inhabiting more than 10 lakh population.


With substantial population of 10 Lakh residing in Ghaziabad was declared India’s fastest mover city. It has shown a considerate development from last year and elevated from the rank of 356.


Well known city for students coming from across India to prepare for medical and engineering exams was declared India’s best city in citizens feedback.


Innovation and creativity is the key to success in this modern technological era and Nagpur being declared as the best city in innovation and best practices has every reason to be proud of it.

Navi Mumbai

The city of dreams doesn’t need introduction and has a hefty list of things it aces in. After being declared best city in solid waste management, it has done noting but added feather to its cap.


From being the cleanest city of India, this year Mysuru was declared cleanest city in the medium category inhabiting 3-10 lakh people.

New Delhi Municipal Council Area

The heart of India and capital city was declared the cleanest small city with the hold of 1-3 lakh people. Apart from this, Delhi was also awarded India’s cleanest cantonment tag in the survey.


If the home of captain cool isn’t the best performing states in India then what else would be? It was followed by Maharashtra and Chattisgarh.
